Open Policy Review

Editorial policy

Open Policy Review aims to make public policy easier to understand through careful, clearly framed explanations. Readers should be able to tell what a piece establishes, what remains uncertain and how to raise a concern.

Accuracy and clarity

We check factual statements against appropriate material available to the editorial process, explain terms in context and take care not to blur description with argument. Where a subject is disputed or depends on context, the wording should make that clear rather than imply a settled answer.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for reader relevance and explanatory value. A contribution or partnership does not guarantee coverage, and commercial relationships do not determine editorial conclusions.

Corrections

We take reports of errors seriously. When a material mistake is confirmed, we correct the affected text and make the change clear to readers where appropriate. Use the Contact page to identify the passage and explain the concern.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid or partner-supported material is clearly identified as such and kept distinguishable from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that applies, the image is labelled so readers can distinguish it from documentary imagery.

Our point of view

A proposal is only the beginning.

To understand a public decision, look at the problem it defines, the options it leaves open and the process that carries it forward.
