Write for us
Open Policy Review welcomes pitches that help general readers understand how public policy is shaped, discussed or carried out, without turning explanation into advocacy or professional advice.
What we welcome
We consider clear explainers, comparisons of policy approaches, accounts of institutional processes and essays that carefully unpack a public argument. Strong proposals focus on one question, define unfamiliar terms and show why the process or choice matters.
What makes a good pitch
Tell us the proposed subject, the central question, the main points you would explain and why the piece has lasting reader value. Note the material you would use to support factual claims, any relevant perspective or interest, and a working title. Avoid pitches that depend on unsupported claims or ask us to publish promotional copy as editorial work.
How to send it
Send proposals through the Contact page, choosing the editorial question option and including your pitch in the message. A proposal is not a commitment to publish; we may ask for clarification before considering it further.
A proposal is only the beginning.
To understand a public decision, look at the problem it defines, the options it leaves open and the process that carries it forward.
